AEB: Russian car, LCV sales fall 3.3% to 151,180 units in June
MOSCOW, Jul 4 (PRIME) -- Russia’s sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) fell 3.3% on the year to 151,180 vehicles in June, the Association of European Businesses (AEB) said in a statement on Thursday forecasting no growth for the full year.
In January–June, sales of cars and LCVs fell 2.4% to 828,750 units.
“Six months into 2019, we find the market 2.4% down year-on-year, with a second quarter that proved more challenging than the first. Market expectations for the second half of the year are not fundamentally better,” AEB said quoting Joerg Schreiber, chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee.
“It is clear that market growth in the full year of 2019 is not a realistic scenario anymore. Even with a certain trend improvement in the second half, it would appear that the best outcome the market can hope for is to equalize last year’s sales result.”
Sales of Russia’s largest carmaker AvtoVAZ fell 2% on the year to 30,768 cars in June and rose 3% to 174,186 units in January–June.
